"The paper will examine the multiple motivations of those proposing land drainage projects ('projectors') in England’s vast eastern wetlands, known as the Fens, during the 17th century. While most drainage advocates were primarily interested in financial gain, a number of projectors were inspired by an almost religious desire to fix a broken landscape, reform the moral failings of its inhabitants, and incorporate both more profitably into the English Commonwealth."

Am 14.05.2013 wird Eric Ash darüber hinaus einen Workshop unter dem Titel "'The Unrecovered Country': The Non-Drainage of the Cambridge Fens, 1619-20" leiten.
